Buck Bay is located on the southwestern shore of Grindstone Island, also known as the head of the island.  The mouth of the bay faces Wolfe Island.  It is centrally located between Clayton New York and Gananoque Ontario, both an easy 4 mile boat ride.  It is  a lovely secluded location surrounded by marsh, with a view looking out the bay up  river.  There is a four-slip boathouse with an outside dock on each side.  A swim float, 500 feet from shore offers deep, clear swimming.

The house has decks all around with built in benches, providing sun and shade throughout the day.  The living room has 25 ft. ceilings with beautiful exposed white oak beams and large windows that create a light, bright atmosphere.  The kitchen and dining room areas are up three steps and open to the living room. Large modern counters and work spaces make it a great place for family cooking, with a double wall oven, gas cook top and dishwasher.

There are 4 bedrooms and 1 ½ bathrooms.  The laundry is found in the middle of the house where a spiral staircase leads to the master bedroom upstairs.  The three bedrooms downstairs, in the front of the house, are equipped with a queen size bed in one, bunk beds in the other and a single bed in the third room.  The front bedroom has large windows with a lovely view looking out the bay.  The bunkroom is accessible through the single bedroom with a ladder like staircase.  The master bedroom has a king size bed and small ½ bath upstairs.  The bathroom down stairs is spacious with a large home built, cedar lined shower, and separate bathtub.

Because we don’t wish to over-tax the septic system or appliances, we limit maximum occupancy to 4 adults and 4 children or 6/8 adults. We do not like to use pesticides so some tolerance for insect friends is necessary.  We own 26 acres and while renting the house we reside in a small cabin and tents in the woods over the hill and out of sight of the house.  We share the docks.

It is necessary to either have your own boat or rent from Clayton Marina.  The house is available from Sunday 3pm to the following Sunday departing by 11am.  All linens, kitchen utensils and charcoal grill are included.  When times are busy on the River you can count on peace and quiet in Buck bay.
